Go Go Ville

A scene from Mahogany's debut inside the famed Go Go Ville on Mack Avenue in Detroit. This violent opening shot (and its assassination of a dancer) caused quite a stir with movie critics and the ratings commission. Needless to say, it was heavily edited upon release.

This photograph taken in Mahogany's Detroit home is from the biography "Behind the Afro". Fans may note the b-version one sheet from "The Stripper" hanging on the wall behind her. This teaser poster could be found all over subways and sidewalks in the summer of '79. The official movie poster, which was included in the Mahogany's Back album, still eludes us...

The Image Lab


A rare peak at Cassidy Clan Animation's famed image lab #9. This is where the characters would be developed. The desk, shown here, was kept under guard by a particularly viscious Egyptian Basenji (and of course your usual retinal scanners and fingerprint analyzers).
